Respond is a large-scale reuse project of the third sector with an acquired expertise in collection and re-distribution of household goods for reuse. Respond improves the quality of life for individuals and families on low income who are in need of housing support. It maximises the quantity and quality of appliances for reuse and recycling following the Environment Agency regulations (WEEE). Respond is challenging the way waste appliances are managed to reduce the carbon impact in South East England. Respond is an important contributor to the reduction of bulky tonnage sent to landfill by working with local authorities to meet challenging environmental targets. 

Respond has developed its expertise in reuse and recycling since 1984. Reuse of furniture for social services clients and large domestic appliances (white goods) is our core activity, the success of which is based on collaboration with local authority bulk collections, inflow of appliances within the WEEE regulations infrastructure, and public goodwill who choose reuse collections above traditional methods of disposal. Respond has developed good community relations with the public, social services and the social housing sector to source and supply goods for reuse. The existence of Respond as an effective and reliable reuse service is an essential ingredient to influencing behavioural change of the public towards sustainability and waste minimisation goals.
